Business opportunities in Algeria and Egypt

Business opportunities in Algeria and Egypt

19.06.2019 from 13:30 to 15:45

Skypemøde - netværk

DAFC and the Danish Embassies in Algiers and Cairo invite you to discuss business opportunities in North Africa’s transformation of the agricultural sector.

Last year Denmark reopened its embassy in Algiers with the ambition to strengthen its relations with Algeria.

Further, Algeria has launched a strategy to speed up the development of the agricultural sector as the country seeks to diversify its production. Agriculture accounts for around 13% of GDP and employs at least 14% of the

country’s active population. Algeria has about 8.4 million hectares of arable land representing roughly 3.5% of its total surface area. The government seeks to increase this output over the coming years.

With a young population of around 99 million Egypt is the largest and potentially most dynamic and fast-moving consumer goods market in the Middle East. In 2018, Egypt had an annual growth rate of 5.2%, which drives an increase in the private consumption of 5% in 2018 and is expected to grow even more reaching 5.5% in 2019 and 5.8% in 2020.
